Salkantay Trek with Short Inca Trail 5D/4N

$115 per person

Cuzco, founded in 1100 A.D., is the oldest continually inhabited city in the Western hemisphere. Built in a mountainous region considered among the most beautiful on the planet, Cuzco was once the flourishing capital of the Inca Empire. Natives and visitors alike consider it the most impressive of all Peruvian cities for both its history and its remarkable mix of Incan and Spanish colonial architecture. And we’ve yet to mention the breathtaking beauty of the local terrain and the warmth of the local people.

Walking through the city you will find colonial buildings erected atop the stone foundations of Inca temples and churches or convents sprawled out alongside the Temple of the Sun. All around you lay palpable reminders of Cuzco’s rich past and vibrant present. For those who want to acquire an encompassing vision of Peruvian history and culture, the Cusco walking tour is perfect.

On this day tour you’ll visit key Incan highlights to experience Cusco at the grassroots level. Start at the vibrant San Pedro local market. Enjoy a picnic around amazing landscapes and then return to Cusco walking, learning about the history and culture along the way.

Day 1

San Pedro market

Kick off your historical Cusco tour with a visit to the San Pedro market, which at an altitude of 3,400m, is one of the highest in the world. Talk about starting the morning on top of the world! Learn about the market’s history as you explore rows of local produce, colorful fabrics, flower vendors, shaman stalls, and loud juice makers in the company of an English speaking guide. There is the opportunity to try out a few local words and purchase snacks for later in the day. Be ready for some entertaining local interaction!

Artisanal Market

Set at the bottom of Avenida El Sol – the main avenue in Cusco, the Artisans market is a tourist shopping haven.  Home to everything alpaca and jewelry up to the ceiling, make sure you visit here before you leave and stock up on all those Peruvian presents!

Qoricancha

We will visit the Sun Temple or Qoricancha, an important construction during Inka times, built to honor the Sun God.

Cristo Blanco

Then, we go by a private transportation for a short drive of 20 minutes to the statue of Cristo Blanco (White Christ), where we’ll stop for our delicious picnic of Peruvian snacks and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of Cusco’s cityscape.
