waqrapukara trekking is new wonder of Cusco

This archaeological site called Waqrapukara. According to the researchers, the Quechua word Waqrapukara comes etymologically from two words, waqra means horn and the word pukara strength. In short, this word waqrapukara means horn-shaped fortress. It was a residence of the nobles, with astronomical observatories and at the same time it was a protected religious center with watchtowers and underground roads.

Other researchers say that the Inka Qanchi nobility lived in this area. “The legendary general T’ito Qosñipa, in the Inca Wayna Qhapaq army, obtained the high prizes as general of the conquering armies of the Tawantinsuyo Empire.
T’ito Qosñipa proclaimed inka of Qanchis, organized an army, which then headed towards Cusco. The Ruler of the Tawantinsuyo Empire, informed by the subversive activities of T’ito Qosñipa, sent a part of his army to unveil the movement, commanded by General Anqoayllo. Both armies met on the slopes of Cerro Phiñaypampa, near Corma. After a bloody and bloody battle, the hosts of T’itto Qosñipa were defeated. ”

As evidence of this fact, there are still human skeletal remains at the battle site. T’ito Qosñipa el Inka Qanchi, after the battle of Phiñaypampa, with the rest of his soldiers, returned to Waqrapukara. General Anqoayllo’s troops chased the fugitives and surrounded the Waqrapukara fortress with violent attacks. When the soldiers of the aforementioned general ascended the fortress, they were thrown into the ravine as they ascended, through the gates of the abyss, there are currently remains of these gates. After fifteen days of resistance to the Inca imperial army, they discovered that the water channel that supplied the fortress cut this water service to the Inka Qanchi army, reason why he had to capitulate with General Anqoayllo.

T’ito Qosñipa was taken prisoner with a hundred of his qanchis soldiers before the Inka Ruler of the Empire. Knowing the reckless courage of the young warrior T’ito Qosñipa, seeing how he would be useful in his conquests, Wayna Qhapaq saved his life and made him marry a ñusta chosen by the Inca Qanchi in Cusco. Their soldiers were also amnestied, they returned to their Qanchi tribe, promising to be loyal to the empire. But the ears of the hundred qanchis soldiers were cut off. Since then they have been called mottoqanchis.

In the future, in the conquest of more Inca territories towards Ecuador by Wayna Qhapaq; this warrior T’ito Qosñipa fought with the brave Kañaris. For the triumph of the imperial Inca, they brought two thousand kañari warriors from the imperial guard, escorting the victor Wayna Qhapaq. Some of these brave kañari warriors were also brought to the Qanchis tribe by T’ito Qosñipa; For this reason, the last name Cañari also exists today throughout the area.

According to Jorge Leonidas Delgado Vargas, before the ears were cut, the Qanchi soldiers from T’ito Qosñipa danced the Qanchis dance, by order of the imperial Inca. This dance called Qanchi Tusuy is currently practiced in Cusco, especially by the Qanchis of the 19th century. Since then, they have been nicknamed Mot’oqanchis, the soldiers of the Inka Qanchi. But since colonial times it has remained the Mot’oqanchi surname, today there are still descendants of such a brave warrior.
